Reserves start with a win

The reserves got their 2007 campaign off to a winning start with an 8 point victory away to Coleraine.

With the format for throw in times changed this season it was the reserves who played the second game on the opening fixtures days.

With the league and championship double under the belt form last season it was thought that the current reserve team would coast to an easy win over the Coleraine team. This idea was quickly throw out the window with Coleraine starting the brighter and playing all the football in the opening 10 minutes. With the snow belting down and a constant pressure on the Martin's goal it looked as though Desertmartin may well drop points in their opening game of the season. However once the showers cleared up so did the wayward passing from the men in yellow and they soon found themselves back in the game and up a point at half time on a score line of 1-04 to 1-03.

The second half saw oneway traffic with Johnny Trainor stepping up to the mark and taking some fine scores. Solid defending say home side register only a single point in the second half with the Martin's running out winners on a score line of 1-12 to 1-04.
