It’s that time of year again, and the club is buzzing with our new extension and refurbishment nearing completion. Of course this all comes at a cost and your membership subscription goes towards the cost of running our club including GAA affiliation fees, player insurance, upkeep of the clubhouse and pitches, playing kit, training equipment, transport, coaching, physio costs, etc.

We hope that the new Community Services Hub will provide the backdrop for wider social engagement beyond our sporting activities for parents, ex-players, and those who want to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Our newly awarded Healthy Club status should set out our intentions to be an organisation that everyone can be proud of.

If you currently subscribe to one of our Friends of Desertmartin schemes your membership will carry over. We must stress however that we need you to fill out and sign a registration form each year so that we can keep our records up to date.

This is the preferred method of payment and you can sign up for direct debit online right here with just your account number and sort code.

Stay tuned for dates for registration nights which will be coming up shortly.

Sponsor a Player 2019

In 2017 when the boys went to Clones we did a sponsor the player initiative. As in 2017 we will be giving you a chance to sponsor a player, it could be family, friend, or someone you just really want to support.

There will be a few ways of donating your money.

1.The players have individual sponsor sheets so you can give them cash.

2. Single direct debit fixed amounts can be paid online by clicking the links that will appear every few days beside the players pen pic.

3. PayPal payments (add the player name to the note in the payment window or leave blank for general donation to the cause).

See the girls pen pics here

Donate via PayPal above. Remember to add players name where it says Write a note (optional) in the payment form.

As this is so important to the girls, could we please make a big effort to support this initiative.

Here are the girls after their county final win over Ballinascreen.

If you haven’t got tickets yet there are some left over and you can contact Paddy Kidd on 07792127940.

Deadline is this Thursday 13th Feb.

Rosary for Helena

To assist with the safe return of Helena and for the strength and support of her family and friends, there will be a public recitation of the Rosary tonight (Tues 26th Nov) at 7pm in Saint Patrick’s Church Keenaught. Please come along and join in this most powerful prayer.

Youth Presentation Special Guests

This year’s youth presentation will take place in the newly refurbished clubrooms on 29th Nov from 6:30pm.

This year’s guests are great role models for our youth. At just 20 years old Conor McCloskey and Cormac Murphy have McCrory Cup, Ulster County Minor and County Senior Championship medals a piece.

McCrory Cup

This will be the first event in the newly refurbished hall and we are looking forward to seeing you all there.

Upcoming Events Nov/Dec 2019

With the football all wrapped up for the year, things have been a little quiet with the hall out of use and the ongoing renovations and new build underway. There are some events going on before the end of the year though and hall will be back in operation in December.

Check here on Facebook for more details and to reserve your place at the Annual Dinner

We hope as many people as possible are able to make it to these events. We really want to build a sense of community as we step into the future with a vision of a healthier, happier Desertmartin.

Walkway Lighting Becomes Operational

It is great to announce that the walkway lights are up and operational from 2nd August 2019. The lights will come on at dusk and automatically go out at 11pm.

We are really excited about the potential to provide a local safe walking/running environment for the community in the darker months.

If anyone has any ideas for starting and walking or running group in partnership with the club give us a shout, not necessarily a club member. We are actively looking to develop the facilities and the variety of activities available for the whole community.

We would like to thank Mid Ulster District Council for funding under the Village Area Plan, and Brookfield Renewable for their financial backing under their Social Initiative scheme. This is a great step forward that can improve the opportunity for the community to get active all year round.

Pat Kidd, Chairman St Martin’s GAC

The club really wants to push forward with developing the facilities and making them as useful as possible for as much of the community as possible.

We hope to see plenty of people out walking and running in the coming months.

Small Goalposts

Could all team managers and mentors please ensure that small goalposts are removed from the playing fields after training. Thank you.
