Desertmartin reserves continue impressive run

Desertmartin 3-16 Claudy 1-4

The reserves fielded a familiar team and notched an impressive score line against a Claudy team that where second best in almost every area of the field.

Desertmartin had a lot of possession in the initial quarter but where wasteful in front of goal but with more practice they soon started to find the target. Dermot Kelly and Johney McGovern started at midfield for the Martin?s and worked well together and seemed to get the better or there opposite number throughout the 60 minutes. When the Desertmartin scores did come it was centre forwards of Murray and Bradley that where pulling all the strings setting up the speedy wing men (Kidd and McGuickin). Desertmartin found there stride midway through the first half and started to dominate the game, with the shots now hitting the target the scores quickly began to pile up until the halftime score line read 1-10 to 0-3 This score line could have been much higher but for some point blank saves from the Claudy Keeper.

In the second half the martins picked up where they left off and with the confidence up the forwards started to work the ball in a bit further and go for goals, this game plan worked well with Aide Bradley beating the keeper twice. Desertmartin ran out convincing winners with a good team performance and some strong defensive work from Mickey Kelly, Goldie and Adie Kelly.
With the championship approaching the team looks to be in top form, but a much tougher game is expected against Faughenvale.

Good luck to Marty, Dermot and the boys on Friday Night.
