Minor League v's St Marks

Two early points from Enda O'Hagan and Enda McGuckin got the Martins off to a great start in this one but there was nothing easy about the rest of the game and with 15 minutes on the clock, a Gregory McGovern tackle on Donnelly saw him get a straight red and Patrick Coey caught the Donnelly free kick to score the away sides first score of the game.

St Marks had their chance to level the game only for Odhran Sexton to shoot wide. The next play saw a great catch by Paul McFlynn to lay off to Enda McGuckin only to kick wide. The St Marks keeper being kept busy found only one player wanting the ball in Decky McVey who moved to midfield. He caught his first ball to lay of to St Marks number 7 who won a free on the home sides 50. The ball was kicked in to 'big joe' who caught-turned and hit the bottom corner of the net. However the Martin's caught the next ball for Sean Fullen to convert a tight angled shot from a Conor Monaghan run to leave the home side trailing 1-4 to 0-03 at the break.

The 2nd half saw a revived Desertmartin who had time at the break to resettle their team and devise their tactics and they came out blazing in the second half. That saw a very early goal from Enda O'Hagan and the deficit was down to 1 point. St Marks went up the field to regain their 4 point advantage with points from Patrick Coey, Joe Love and Decky McVey. The Martins again picked the tempo up and St Marks couldn't cope and saw Desertmartin hit another thunderous goal, Enda O'Hagan and Paul McGovern again involved in the set up to win a penalty which Enda McGuckin confidently converted. St Marks then saw a point in James Canavan – his first of the season, won by Donnelly's 3rd win from the kick out in the 2nd half. The sides where level and more points from Paddy Coey and a Gary McVey free saw St Marks come within a point but 2 minutes later a goal mouth scramble saw a Martins player lift the ball and rocket it to the roof of the net.  Cathal Brown who had been involved on nearly all Martins scores in the second half was red carded. Conor Monaghan making a darting run down the side for the fifth time saw the Martins play breakdown and with a point between the sides McVey found Donnelly to lay to Quigley who ballooned the ball wide. The Martins go top of the league by two points and St Marks drop to 2nd joint in points with Craigbane.

Final Score Desertmaritin 4-3 St Marks 1-11
