Mixed fortunes for our seniors and reserves

Following the first round games for our Seniors and Reserves being cancelled, today seen our panel travel to Drumsurn looking for two wins to get them off to the right start to the season.

The reserves, looking to start their season where they left off last term did so with an in the end convincing win on a score line of 2-05 to 1-16

Trailing at half time, a strong second half seen them run out easy winners in the end.

Our seniors, following a disappointing season last year were looking to start the season strong against a team who defeated us near the end of last season and things looked good following two goals from Michael McCann in the opening 7 minutes.

With this early lead things should have been better come half time but a strong 20 minutes from Drumsurn seen the Martin’s lead by just the single point at half time on a score line of 1-04 to 2-02

The second half saw Drumsurn take off from where they left before the half time whistle and they were level within the first minute of the second half.

On a day that there seemed to be little between the sides, it was the Drumsurn forwards who proved the difference and they gradually opened up a lead, leaving 5 points in it with 10 to play. Added pressure from Desertmartin seen the peg the lead back to two points with less than 5 to play, however a second Drumsurn goal fisted in following a free was to put the game beyond Desertmartin.

Final score Drumsurn 2-11 Desertmartin 2-06
