Desertmartin U14`s travelled to Lavey on Sunday where they inflicted a
crushing defeat on Castledawson in the semi-final of the U14 "B"
championship. Indeed from the first minute when Connor Monaghan pointed
a fine free the "Martins" were always in control. In the eighth an
nineteenth minute Enda O Hagan added two more points before
Castledawson hit back with 2 points from free`s. Then a point from John
Hughes and a brilliant goal from Enda O`Hagan in the 27`th minute and a
further inspirational score from Enda McGuckin on the stroke of
half-time meant the writing was on the wall for Castledawson. Half-time
score 1-05 to 0-2.

Sean Fullen tortured the Castledawson defence and
was the instigator of some very fine scores. In the first and third
minute of the second half Castledawson scored two more points but
Desertmartin hit back with a stunning goal from Joey Leydon and an
equally impressive goal from John Hughes who had switched to full
forward from centre-half forward.Castledawson scored their one and only
goal in the tenth minute but Enda O`Hagan ,Connor Monaghan John Hughes
cancelled this out with three superb frees. The centre field was now in
complete control with Gregory McGovern snatching the ball out of the
air at will and quickly feeding it into the forward line of Enda
McGuckin, Paddy Trainor and Sean Fullen.

Super sub Paul McGovern was brought on in place
of Paddy Trainor who had put in a solid performance at right corner
forward and and in the 19th minute McGovern found the back of the
net.Castledawson hit back with scores in the twenty second and twenty
fourth minute before Paul McGovern scored his second goal. The back
line of Cahir Madden (Captain) Paul Kidd, Danny Hegarty, Sean

out as was their stalwart goal-keeper Christopher Bradley.
