Desertmartin U12s suffered their first defeat of the season against a much older and physically stronger Newbridge team at Longfield on Saturday.

Desertmartin made a positive start and a Darren McGuigan goal and a point from Adrian Trainor left the Martins four points up with only ten minutes played. Newbridge rallied and this coupled with the heavy ground and their physical superiority saw them come more into the game. They soon whittled away the Desertmartin lead and with ten minutes left Newbridge led by five points.
However, the fight and spirit of this team came to the fore and they matched Newbridge as the game reached its conclusion. Again this was a team effort and everyone including the substitutes played their part.
