The seniors started the 2007 campaign with an away defeat to Coleraine.
With new management in place for the new season and a youthful team taking
the field hopes were high that they could start with a victory against the All
Ireland Intermediate finalists from the week before.
Following a tight first half there was nothing between the teams with Donal
Murray using his skill and speed effetely to leave the scores 1-05 a piece at
the break.
The belief that a shock may be on the cards was lost in the first 5 minutes
of the second half. From the throw in the Coleraine team attacked with deadly effeteness
with the ball in the back of the net with the first minute.
Two more points in the opening 5 minutes of the half opened up a gap that
the Martins would not close again with Coleraine running out winners by 7
points.
