Football

Championship draw has taken place with the Seniors facing Castledawson on the first weekend in May and the reserves taking on our neighbours, Moneymore. I see most publications have us written off already. Hopefully the Lads will prove them wrong.
U8 s and 10s continues this weekend on Saturday. Contact Liam Bradley 028 79301644 07831739474.
Minors played their Hughes McElwee Cup at home to Kilrea on Sunday at 3pm. Playing 13 aside; St Martin’s only had 1 sub and played two players carrying injuries. After a gusty and determined display they were overtaken by a much stronger Kilrea team boasting a panel of 25. Final score 0,9 to 3,12.
Desertmartin started strongly leading 5 points to 2 half way through the half (Declan Murray 3,1f, Aidrian Trainor 2, 1 a 40) Kilrea then got their scoring boots on and picked off 4 points and a goal to one further point from Declan. Leaving the first half 6 points to 1,6. The second half started off the same as the first with the home team picking off 2 points, one each from Aidrian and Declan to bring it back to 1 point. With a bit of luck Marty McGuigan could have rattled the net on the 8th minute. Kilrea again took control and with some top drawer kicking, rattled off six points and two goals. Desertmartin finished the half strongly but could only record one more point from Declan to leave the final score 0,9 to 3,12. With Marty McGuigan substituted through injury, he had to come back on when Aidrian Trainor had to be carried off after shipping a heavy tackle.
U 14 league commences on 13th April away to Ballymaguigan.
U 16s look forward to their first challenge away to Greenlough on 8th April.

The first Senior and reserve league game will be home to our neighbours Lissan on 28th March. Definitely one not to miss. Guest appearance of Sarsfields AOH Band.
