Senior ladies finsih league with defeat

Coleraine: 3-17

The senior ladies played heir final league game of the season against Coleraine at Longfield on Thursday 8th. The opening quarter saw both sides evenly matched at 0-3 each with Lisa McGuigan scoring two and the third coming from Aideen Fullen. But Coleraine were getting a grip on the game with Shauna Doherty causing the home defence all sorts of problems. Between the fourteenth and fifteenth minutes the visitors scored 1-2, the goal coming from Anna Morrison, to go five points clear. Desertmartin replied strongly with points from Aideen Fullen, Roisin McElhennon and Ciara Shaw to close the gap. Coleraine hit two further points from Shauna Doherty to lead by five at halftime.

Coleraine took control of the second-half with their superior fitness shining through. Winning possession throughout the field they constantly ran at the Desertmartin defence and scoring repeatly. The Saffrons had some good passages of play with Noleen McGuckin having a great game in goals and Bronagh Shiels the pick of the home defence they created chances with 1-1 from Lisa McGuigan and a point from Louise Breen. But Coleraine ran out easy winners 3-17 to Desertmartin’s 1-8.
