Following a below par performance last weekend against Ogra Colmcille, this weekends game against Limavady gave our Seniors the chance to pick things up again and get another two points.
Could things have went any worse?
Our boys started the game well and took an early lead through Ruairi Murray, his first of four for the day. However Limavady soon levelled things up again before Jimmy McElhennon restored the one point advantage in Desertmartin’s favour again.
A further point from John Paul Higgins saw the half time score at Desertmartin 0.03 Limavady 1.01.
As far as a Desertmartin performance goes that is where it stopped! Forwards inability to take scores and half backs/mid fields lack of good ball to the forwards say Desertmartin only register four points in the second half which saw them with 75% of the play. Is this the team who were looking to be in a Division above the one they are currently in?
Limavady, to be fair never gave up and with only three between them going into the last 5 they got the killer stroke. A ball, skimmed into the box broke free and one of their forwards pulled on it to score their second goal of the day leaving the sides level. At this stage only one team was going to win it and in the 60th minute they secured a one point advantage with a 21 meter free.
In the 4 minutes of injury time which followed this, Desertmartin had several scoring chances to salvage at least a point but as most of the lads seemed to have left home without their shooting boots they never registered and Limavady held out for a big win.
Things will have to improve or the season will be past us, if they are not already!
