Seniors make it two in a row

Saturday past saw Faughanvale travel to Desertmartin and for the first 40 minutes of the game they might as well not have bothered as our boys suddenly rediscovered the way to play attractive football again. By half time Desertmartin were 0.08 to 0.03 up and playing some nice football.

Picking up the breaking balls around the middle of the park was the key to this display. Unlike other outing this season both our half back, mid- fielders and half forwards were shape onto the break and our forwards were getting the reward with plenty of the ball, while our backs mopped up anything that came their way.

Michael McCann, scoring 4 points from play was pulling all the strings as Desertmartin continued the second half where they left the first, shooting into a 0.12 to 0.04 lead after 40 minutes.

Then at a stage where the game seems to be won Desertmartin suddenly took their foot off the peddle. Faughanvale chalked up a couple of points to leave 6 in it and at this stage were on top in most areas on the field. Then came the Faughanvale goal with just over 10 minutes to play. Desertmartin defended for their lives and although Faughanvale scored another 2 points in the last 5 minutes of play they never got the equaliser they never deserved from a game where our lads were the most dominant.

Final score Desertmartin 0.12 Faughanvale 1.08

Next up Coleraine at home.
