Desertmartin: 0-10
Castledawson: 1-12
The Seniors played their first league game of the season when they took on Castledawson at the Broagh on Sunday 17th. Played on a marvellous surface Castledawson cruised into a three point lead before Desertmartin opened their scoring with a point after ten minutes of play. Castledawson replied with 1 – 1 to lead by six points on the thirteenth minute. The following eight minutes belonged Desertmartin scoring four points without reply. Nial McNicholl then pointed two frees for the Lily Whites before Desertmartin scored three further points leaving the home side leading by a point at half-time. The second period was nip and tuck the whole way with both sides having equal possession of the ball. The difference was Castledawson’s accuracy on front of goals. Each team had ten attempts at scoring during the second half with Castledawson outpointing the Saffrons 0 – 6 to 0 – 2 to win by five on a scoreline of 1 – 12 to 0 – 10. While Desertmartin will be disappointed with the outcome, they produced a fully committed preformance in a good game of football.
